Bengaluru: Terrorist’s arrest in Kannur reveals plan to set off countrywide blasts

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Oct 12: During the interrogation of P A Saleem alias Raisal, who was arrested from Kannur in Kerala, the investigating authorities have found that he had links with Wali alias Rehan alias Rashid Obaidulla, a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative operating from Pakistan, and head of Indian Mujahideen, Riaz Bhatkal.

Saleem's arrest has also brought to the fore information that seven terrorists whose hideouts the police personnel are trying to find out, are conspiring to set off terrorist activities all over the country again. These seven were the ones who had helped in organizing blasts in the city a few years back. Investigating officials stated that they are also involved with terrorist organizations based in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

It is said that Saleem Ali revealed during his questioning that Rashid Obaidulla of Lashkar-e-Taiba had instructed the terrorists to be prepared to indulge in destructive activities like organizing blasts at several places in addition to strengthening the organization in Kerala.

The police are trying to verify reports about Saleem Ali having been trained under Obaidulla who is currently holed up in Gulistan near Faisalabad, Pakistan. They have got information that Saleem was communicating with Ayub alias K P Shabir from Marakkarandi, Kannur, Kerala, who is currently hiding in Afghanistan, and Saleem alias Mubashir Shahid alias Yahya from Karachi. The investigating officials also say that he was also in contact with Jahid from Hamaria, Balgladesh and Shoaib alias Faisal from Pappinassery Kondat in Kerala. They too are currently hiding in some foreign destinations. The accused also was in contact with Riaz Bhatkal, as well as Ali alias Isha alias Ali Abdul Aziz Hooti who is hiding in Muscat now. The police team has got 14 days custody of the arrested accused after he was presented in the first additional chief metropolitan magistrate's court here.

Saleem had been hiding in the Gulf countries after the serial bomb blasts rocked the city in 2008. In the recent years, he was lying low in Kannur. On the basis of information provided by Abdul Jabbar alias Sattar during the investigation, National Investigation Agency and Research and Analysis Wing had been watching out for Saleem. The CCB arrested him based on information provided by these agencies.

The central crime branch police had been able to arrest only 20 out of 32 accused in the 2008 blasts case in the city. The police were alerted again recently after officials of National Investigation Agency arrested Kausar of Jamaat Mujahideen Bangladesh, who was hiding in Ramanagara. The CCB police, in an operation, based on information collected during the renewed investigation into the said serial bomb blasts, arrested Saleem who was hiding in a Kannur forest.

In a startling revelation, a former police office investigating the role of Sanatan Sanstha in the Margao bomb blasts case, has said that journalist Gauri Lankesh would have been alive if the state’s BJP-led government had acted on his advice to ban the organisation.

CL Patil, who was posted at the Ponda Police Station as SHO and Salim Shaikh, an inspector with Goa’s ATS, told India Today that he had recommended banning the Hindutva outfit but his suggestion was shot down by his bosses in the police dept.

Members of the Hindutva outfit are alleged to have killed Gauri Lankesh, scholars Govind Pansare, MM Kalburgi and rationalist Narendra Dabholkar.
Acquitted of their alleged role in bomb blasts outside Maharashtra theatres in 2008, two sadhaks of the militant Hindutva outfit also made startling confessions to India Today TV’s special investigation admitted on camera that he did plant the explosives.
In another stunning development, the Maharashtra ATS has arrested a member of a Hindutva militant group and seized huge quantity of explosives from his residence.
The arrested member of Hindu Govansh Raksha Samiti has been identified as one Vaibhav Raut. “ATS sleuths raided his residence and shop where they found huge quantity of explosives, including crude bombs. Some literature was also seized,”.
News agency PTI quoted HJS state organiser Sunil Ghanvat as saying, “Vaibhav Raut is a daring cow protector. He was active through an organisation- Hindu Govansh Raksha Samiti – dedicated to the protection of cow. In 2008, six people from the HJS were arrested for planting bombs in auditoriums at Thane and Vashi and in a movie theater at Panvel.
In one hand Hindutava militant from pune to Madhya Pradesh Jabuha given freehand & another case ahead of Lok Sabha election Muslims picked connecting dots that by default ends in Bhatkal. Interestingly our agencies now the entire plan of militant activity abroad accept India till they got arrested linking Riyaz Bhatkal.

One common factor in all these terror related arrests and blasts. Let us all hope , their parents and supporters shout that they are being 'targetted' for being ' peace lovers'.

Donot show your fake emotions for this country Rathan.

Everyone knows about saffron terrorism. Why they are not caught in the last four years!

In addition, many are left scot free!

I wrote my comment on these points. Another factor is that all arrests are made when there is an important event like national festival or elections nearby to make the majority sympathize with the baji pirki jumla party.

Saffron terrorism is itself a wrong perception created by terrorists sympathisers like you and painting the whole country alongwith some intellectuals.

Grow up and condemn their act, otherwise they will get more fearless, as they know people like you are always there to support them justifying with saffron terrorism .....
Now you will call me of getting graduated from Nagpur University ...... blah blah blah

Why should media give all the information about the arrest etc., Investigating authorities should handle it very discretely. Terrorism & Terrorists should be dealt without any mercy.

In the next 6 months you will see more such arrests of "terrorists " with links to Pakistan . NIA has this important task to do before the elections.
