Kuwait: Easter celebrated at St Therese Church, Salmiya

Kuwait, Apr 1: Hundreds of devotees gathered at St Therese of Child Jesus Church Salmiya on Saturday, March 31 to observe Easter Vigil on the eve of Easter along with visiting priests from Goa Fr Avinash Rodrigues.

Candlelight ceremonies included the blessing of the paschal candle and blessing of fire and holy water. In his homily, Fr Avinash said that our God is a living God and requested all gathered to be firm in their faith. He called upon parents to pass this faith to their children.

Psalms and melodious hymns were sung by Konkani choir led by Kiran Gonsalves.



Parish priest Fr Blany Pinto thanked visiting priest Fr Avinash for his month long service in conducting retreats in Kuwait as well as helping the faithful in nourishing their faith. He also thanked all those who supported and helped throughout the Lenten season, especially during the holy week.

Eucharistic minister Henry Fernandes and his wife Stella Fernandes who are leaving Kuwait for good were felicitated on the occasion.
