New Delhi, Jul 23: Educator and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk on Thursday appealed to protesters participating in the ongoing demonstrations over the alleged examination paper leak to remain peaceful, alleging that "antisocial elements" were attempting to provoke violence and derail the movement.

In a message posted on social media from the hospital where he is continuing his indefinite hunger strike, Wangchuk reiterated his commitment to non-violence and urged protesters not to respond to provocation.

"Peace and only peace is my way," Wangchuk said, adding that while the protests at Jantar Mantar had remained peaceful, he was "pained" to learn that violence had broken out elsewhere because of the actions of antisocial elements.

He urged demonstrators to maintain restraint regardless of the circumstances.

"No matter what the other side does, our response must only be flowers. Please keep this tradition at all costs," he said, appealing to supporters not to allow the movement to lose its peaceful character.

Wangchuk's appeal comes amid escalating nationwide protests over the alleged NEET examination paper leak and demands for education reforms. The movement, spearheaded by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), has witnessed demonstrations in several cities, with isolated incidents of clashes between protesters and police reported in recent days.

The activist has been on an indefinite hunger strike for nearly four weeks in support of the students' demands. Earlier this week, he said he was prepared to end his fast if the Centre gave a clear assurance that no punitive or retaliatory action would be taken against students and protesters who participated in the movement.

Wangchuk has consistently maintained that peaceful, democratic protest remains the most effective way to secure accountability and reforms, urging supporters not to allow violence to overshadow the students' cause.
