Bengaluru, Jun 14: St Joseph's Institute of Management (SJIM) Bangalore has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kanara Entrepreneurs (KE) Global and Seattle University to identify, encourage and develop SJIM students who show a flair for entrepreneurship.

This MoU is one in a series of Industry Academia Interface programs that SJIM is pursuing to equip their management students with industry-ready skills.

As part of this initiative, Kanara Entrepreneurs will conduct workshops, conferences, seminars and other activities to advance students’ entrepreneurship acumen.

Promising students identified through these programs will be provided access to Kanara Entrepreneurs’ rich membership base. Students will benefit both from potential mentoring by established entrepreneurs, as well as through financing of select startups.

Fr Manoj D'Souza, Executive Director of SJIM, commenting about the initiative said, ''Traditional MBA jobs will soon become outdated or automated. Therefore, we believe in equipping our students to compete in the internet economy."

''SJIM wants to prepare our students with cutting edge competencies to begin the next great startup right here in Bangalore. So we are very excited about our MoU with Kanara Entrepreneurs," Fr D’Souza said.

Kanara Entrepreneurs Global is a non-profit corporation by individuals from the Kanara region established with the purpose of encouraging entrepreneurship.

KE Bangalore was started in 2008 in collaboration with KE Dubai. Together, the two chapters have over 250 members and a network of around a thousand entrepreneurs from the Kanara region.

St. Joseph's Institute of Management, popularly known as SJIM, is Bangalore's oldest business school situated in the heart of Bangalore's business district, off the busy Mahatma Gandhi Road.
SJIM is run by the Jesuit Fathers, who combine their ethos of creating men and women for others with imparting pioneering business education.

SJIM's flagship program is its well-known Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) that gives students a sound grounding in theoretical principles as well as current industry trends, through a unique pedagogy.

The institute also offers two more AICTE approved programs, the Post Graduate Certificate in Management for young executives and an affordable, practice based Executive PGDM program.
Students at SJIM interact with several prominent personalities through a wide range of conclaves, symposia and one-on-one interactions.

In the last year alone, the prominent personalities included ace cricketer Rahul Dravid, Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, Consul Generals of UK, France, Germany and Switzerland, and Global Vice Presidents of Fortune 500 companies such as Allen Rodrigues of Ameriprise Financial and G. Raju of Coca Cola.

SJIM is also a creator of knowledge, producing research in top tier American and European journals.
From the current academic year, SJIM is collaborating with Seattle University, USA for initiatives such as joint research, exchange of scholars, faculty and students and programs for study and service.

SJIM believes that its collaboration with Seattle University, whose business school is accredited by the reputed American body AACSB, is another step in its quest for academic excellence.

Congratulations are extended to Kanara Entrepreneurs as well as the Seattle University for their kind initiative in establishing MoU with SJIM in Bangalore. This is indeed a "good link" between Seatle, Washington State and Bangalore, the Silicone State in India. So many noble and dedicated past students from Bangalore that are located in Seattle must be instrumental to this initiative of "collaboration" that will result into many other new steps in establishing closer relations between the two Institutions.
