Udupi, Aug 30: History and archeological department students of SMS College, Brahmavar with the help of noted historian Dr K B Shivtarak have traced almost 2,300-year-old ancient tombs at Jatabettu of Uppoor near Brahmavar here recently.  Three tombs said to be belonging to metal age have been found in one Emilia D'Silva's garden at Jatabettu.

Residues of pots, bones and other things have been found in these tombs.  The tombs are 2.33 metre in height and have 65 centimetres of base structure.  The stone which is used to close the tomb has fallen inside the tomb.  It is 73 centimetres in height, 49 centimetres in width and 10 centimetres in breadth.

Dr K B Shivtarak was first informed by Gregory D'Silva, physical education teacher of SMS College in this regard.  Archeological department students of the college Harshawardhan, Preeti B Shetty, Sandra, Janardhan and Shaila cooperated in tracing and carrying out detailed study on these tombs.
