Bengaluru, Nov 6: In a shocking case linked to a family dispute, a 53-year-old cab driver has allegedly murdered seven members of his wife's family, including a seven-year-old boy, over a period of one week in Rajajinagar, Bengaluru.

The accused allegedly disposed of the bodies at different locations, including near Nandi Hills in Chikkaballapur district.

The accused, identified as Indushekhar, reportedly confessed to the murders during police interrogation. One body has already been recovered, while a search is underway for the remaining six bodies.

The deceased have been identified as the accused's wife Sunitha, mother-in-law Roopavathi, brothers-in-law Shivakumar and Shankar, their wives Divya and Nalini, and seven-year-old nephew Puneeth.

According to sources, Shekhar had married Sunitha around 20 years ago. The couple frequently quarrelled over her visits to her parental home. Despite several attempts by family members to reconcile the couple, differences between them continued. Shekhar was reportedly angered by the support Sunitha received from her mother and brothers and allegedly decided to eliminate her entire family.

The murders reportedly took place at a residential house on 59th Cross, near Basavam Circle, within the limits of Rajajinagar police station.

According to police sources, Shekhar first allegedly murdered Sunitha using a grinding stone. He then wrapped her body in a cloth and dumped it near Nandi Hills. He subsequently switched off her mobile phone and reportedly told neighbours that Sunitha had gone on a trip to avoid suspicion.

The following day, he allegedly invited his brothers-in-law, Shivakumar and Shankar, to the house for a party and killed them by assaulting them with the grinding stone.

He subsequently allegedly murdered their wives, Divya and Nalini, his mother-in-law Roopavathi, and Shivakumar's seven-year-old son Puneeth.

The case came to light after Nalini's mother lodged a missing-person complaint at Srirampura police station. During the investigation, police examined the details of the missing persons and grew suspicious of Indushekhar. He was taken into custody two days ago, and during interrogation, he reportedly confessed to all seven murders.

After committing the murders, the accused allegedly used chemicals to clean the house and remove bloodstains.

Police have seized the grinding stone allegedly used in the murders and the car reportedly used to transport the bodies. The accused has been taken to suspected locations to help investigators trace the remaining bodies.

Police have not ruled out the possibility of another family member being involved in the murders.

Srirampura and Rajajinagar police are conducting separate investigations into the case. Efforts are continuing to locate the remaining six bodies, reportedly disposed of near Nandi Hills, while police are also investigating the motive behind the murders and the sequence of events.
