Bantwal: 74-year-old tailor dies after bike collision

Bantwal, Oct 10: A 74-year-old tailor who suffered serious injuries after being hit by a two-wheeler while crossing the road at Kadegoli junction in Pudu village of Bantwal taluk died during treatment on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Keshav Shetty, a resident of Pelapady who had been working as a tailor for several decades.

The accident occurred on Thursday morning when Shetty was on his way from home to his tailoring shop. While crossing the road divider on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway at Kadegoli junction, a two-wheeler travelling from BC Road towards Mangaluru hit him.

Shetty sustained serious injuries to his head and legs. He was initially admitted to a local hospital and later shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru for advanced treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries on Friday.

He was the husband of Vasanthi Bhandary, a former member of Pudu gram panchayat and a BJP worker. He is survived by four daughters.

A case has been registered at the Bantwal traffic police station.
