Beltangady: Man succumbs to injuries after electric shock while harvesting arecanuts

Beltangady, Oct 8: A 38-year-old man died after suffering an electric shock when the pole used to harvest arecanuts accidentally came into contact with an overhead power line at Dharmasthala.

The deceased has been identified as Nazir (38), from Ajikuri in Dharmasthala village.

The incident occurred on October 4 when Nazir was harvesting arecanuts from a tree near his house using a pole. During the process, the pole accidentally came into contact with an electric wire passing nearby, causing him to suffer a severe electric shock and sustain serious injuries.

He was immediately taken to a local hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for further treatment. However, he died early Thursday morning, October 8, after failing to respond to treatment.

A case has been registered at the Dharmasthala police station.
