Byndoor, Sep 29: In a grim twist to an ongoing criminal probe, two individuals accused of attempting to poison a man's wife were discovered dead in a suspected suicide near the Souparnika River at Charsal, located in Golihole village within the Byndoor police station limits on Monday, September 29.

The deceased were formally identified as Vittal Naik (35) and Bhavya, also known as Nishmitha (33). Both individuals had been named as prime accused in a case registered at the Kollur police station earlier this month on September 11, 2026.

According to local law enforcement authorities, the pair faced serious criminal charges under Sections 123, 109, and read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police case details revealed that the investigation stemmed from a sinister alleged plot to murder Vittal Naik's wife by stealthily administering unidentified toxic injections. Investigators also noted that Bhavya alias Nishmitha was allegedly involved in an illicit relationship with Naik.

The lifeless bodies were found suspended near the riverbanks. Preliminary police evaluations indicate that the pair likely died by suicide several days prior to the discovery, though the exact timeline and precise circumstances surrounding the deaths remain under thorough investigation.

Specialist Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) teams promptly rushed to the location to execute rigorous forensic procedures and gather physical evidence. Meanwhile, officers attached to the Byndoor police station are spearheading ongoing inquiries to uncover further details.
