Udupi, Sep 24: The NSS and YRC Unit of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, organized the NSS Day celebration and installation ceremony of the NSS–YRC student office bearers at the institute.

The event was graced by Dr Balakrishna S Maddodi, associate professor, department of civil engineering, and NSS programme officer, Manipal Institute of Technology, MAHE, Manipal, as the chief guest.

In his address, Dr Balakrishna S Maddodi highlighted the significance of NSS in developing responsible and socially committed citizens. He explained various ways in which NSS volunteers can contribute to society through community service, social awareness, support for people in need, and environmental initiatives.

He also emphasized the collective strength and potential of NSS volunteers to bring about meaningful change through teamwork, commitment, and a spirit of service.

Dr Nagaraj Bhat, principal, SMVITM, encouraged students to actively participate in programmes that contribute to both character building and career development.

The programme featured the installation of the new NSS–YRC student office bearers and committee members, followed by the presentation of badges and the administration of the oath by Sharan Hegde, Institutional NSS coordinator.
