Kasargod, Sep 10: The body of Ibrahim (35), a resident of Arikkady Kadavath, who went missing after jumping into the river during a Coastal police raid on a sand-laden boat, was found on Thursday September 10, after four days of continuous search.

The body was found entangled in a fishing net in the estuary area of the Shiriya river.

On September 7, at around 8 pm, Coastal police conducted a raid in the Shiriya River to prevent illegal sand transportation. On seeing the police, the sand transporters abandoned the boat in the river and jumped into the water. While two of them managed to swim to the shore and escape, Ibrahim was swept away by the current and went missing.

Coastal police, Kumbla police and local fishermen had been conducting an intensive search for the past three days.

To expedite the rescue operation, the team of renowned Udupi-based diver Eshwar Malpe was called to the spot on Thursday morning. Following an extensive underwater search led by Eshwar Malpe, the body was recovered from the river.

Kumbla Coastal police arrived at the spot and conducted the mahazar.

The deceased Ibrahim Arikkady was the son of Abdul Khader and Zainaba of Kadavath. He is survived by his siblings Hanifa, Muneer, Shamseer, Fousia and Sauda.
