Mangaluru: SJEC alumni celebrate 25 years of excellence at 'Reminiscia 2026'

Media Release

Mangaluru, Aug 26: St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, came alive with nostalgia and celebration as the SJEC Alumni Association hosted 'Reminiscia 2026', a silver jubilee commemorative alumni meet. The event marked a memorable milestone in the college’s 25-year journey of academic excellence and transformation.

The grand alumni celebration brought together former students, faculty members, management representatives, and well-wishers, creating a vibrant platform to reconnect and celebrate the remarkable achievements of the institution and its alumni.

Silver jubilee celebration

The much-awaited Reminiscia 2026 silver jubilee commemorative alumni meet was held on August 22 at Goldfinch Hotel, bringing together alumni from various batches and generations.

The event served not merely as an alumni gathering but as a celebration of a shared legacy. Alumni achievers from different backgrounds were honoured and felicitated for their achievements in their respective fields as a token of appreciation from their alma mater.

Former director Rev Fr Valerian D’Souza, former assistant director Rev Fr Henry Mascarenhas, and former principal Dr Joseph Gonsalves were also felicitated for their immense contributions to SJEC’s success over the years. They made the occasion more special by sharing their experiences and thoughts on the 25-year journey of the institution.

Director of SJEC Rev Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, assistant director Rev Fr Kenneth Rayner Crasta, principal Dr Rio D’Souza, chairperson of Alumni Affairs Vinoothan Kaliveer, convenor Renuka Tantry, along with deans, heads of departments, staff, and members of the SJEC Alumni Association executive committee were present on the occasion.

Panel discussion on career building

A major highlight of Reminiscia 2026 was an engaging panel discussion held at the Fr Fred Memorial Hall on the SJEC campus. Themed “From Campus to Career: Alumni Perspectives on Building Successful Careers in a Changing World,” the session offered current students first-hand insights from accomplished alumni who have successfully established themselves across diverse domains.

The distinguished panel featured S Anantha Kamath (cloud support engineer II, Amazon Web Services), Mahima S Rao (doctoral researcher, IIT Madras), Vaibhav K Salian (AI/ML engineer, EGDK), Kevin Joel Rebello (chief of staff, Cheggout Services Pvt Ltd), and Dhanush Nayak (senior electrical engineer, Lam Research India Pvt Ltd).

Moderated by Dr Binu K G, professor and dean of academic affairs, the discussion touched upon career planning, emerging technologies, adaptability, higher education, and the importance of developing skills beyond the classroom. For the students, hearing directly from alumni who had once walked the same corridors made the interaction particularly meaningful and inspiring.

The event successfully captured the essence of the alumni spirit: “Come Home, Reconnect, Reminisce and Celebrate.” It reaffirmed that while the journey from SJEC may take alumni across the globe, their bond with their alma mater remains timeless.
