New Delhi, Jul 15: The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted bail to Satpal Singh Chabra, an alleged kingpin in the Chhattisgarh District Mineral Fund (DMF) corruption case involving alleged irregularities in the award of contracts.

A bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana allowed Chabra's bail plea after noting that several co-accused, including former Chhattisgarh-cadre IAS officer Anil Tuteja, had already been granted bail.

Appearing for Chabra, senior advocate Shoeb Alam submitted that the principal accused, Anil Tuteja, had been granted bail on May 18, 2026.

Taking note of the submissions, the bench directed that Chabra be released on bail subject to furnishing a bail bond to the satisfaction of the trial court, which may impose additional conditions.

Chabra is accused of receiving Rs 5 crore as illegal gratification in connection with the award of contracts under the District Mineral Fund.

The DMF case pertains to the alleged embezzlement and diversion of funds earmarked for the welfare and development of communities affected by mining activities in Chhattisgarh.

Earlier, the apex court had granted bail to Anil Tuteja, observing that the retired IAS officer had been in custody since January 24, 2024, in multiple corruption cases. He was arrested in the DMF case on February 23, 2026.
