Mumbai, Jul 7: Director Chettan, whose upcoming film The India Story is set to hit theatres later this month, says the film aims to draw attention to the growing concerns over food safety and adulteration in India.
Speaking during the film's promotional campaign in Mumbai alongside actress Kajal Aggarwal, the filmmaker said the movie is intended to make audiences reflect on the quality of the food they consume every day.
Chettan expressed concern over what he described as the widespread presence of adulteration in food and even packaged drinking water, claiming that his research for the film had revealed disturbing realities.

He said food is one of the most fundamental necessities of life and questioned the value of other aspects of well-being if people cannot access safe and healthy food.
According to the director, the film is likely to have a strong emotional impact on families, particularly parents, as it explores issues that directly affect public health and everyday life.
He added that people work hard to provide food for their families, but those efforts become meaningless if the food itself is contaminated or unsafe. Stressing that the film is meant for every household, Chettan said he hopes it will encourage viewers to become more aware of what they eat.
The India Story stars Kajal Aggarwal and Shreyas Talpade in lead roles. The film centres on issues such as pesticide misuse, food adulteration and their consequences for public health.
Kajal Aggarwal portrays Advocate Archana, a lawyer who joins an ordinary citizen in a legal battle against influential corporate entities accused of endangering public health through unsafe practices.
Blending courtroom drama with an investigative narrative, the film seeks to raise awareness about food safety, environmental concerns and corporate accountability. The India Story is scheduled to be released in theatres on July 24, 2026.
