Kundapur: Head-on collision between two bikes near Trasi beach claims 2 lives

Kundapur, Jul 7: A horrific road accident involving a head-on collision between two two-wheelers on National Highway 66 near Trasi beach has claimed two lives.

The deceased have been identified as Deepak Nagappa Naik (23), a resident of Bengre Alivekodi in Bhatkal, and Patrick Vas (63), a resident of Hadavu in Padukone.

The accident occurred on Monday afternoon in front of the Arama temple near Trasi beach. Deepak was riding his motorcycle from Bhatkal towards Kundapur when another oncoming bike, ridden by Patrick, collided head-on with his vehicle.

Deepak sustained critical injuries and breathed his last while being rushed to the hospital. Patrick and his daughter, who was riding pillion with him, were severely injured in the impact and were immediately shifted to a private hospital in Manipal. However, Patrick failed to respond to treatment and passed away early Tuesday morning.

Patrick had previously been employed abroad and had returned to his hometown following his retirement two years ago, where he was running a welding shop. The incident took place when he was returning home after visiting some relatives. He is survived by his wife and two children.

A case regarding the incident has been registered at the Gangolli police station, and investigations are underway.

    Sad to hear this.two lives all of a sudden rissen from their family .friends and world .What a sad thing .How come both of them head on collided is a question.May their souls rest in peace .Heartfelt sympathies to family.So many bike accidents ,many are young buds.loose life .Whether high speed ?wrong side?Do they wear helmets ?
