Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 3: In a remarkable act of courage and presence of mind, two nurses jumped off a bus and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a man who suffered a heart attack while trapped in a massive traffic jam, saving his life near the Kalady bridge in Kerala's Ernakulam district.

The two women who came to his rescue were Anjali Baiju, a nurse at LF Hospital in Angamaly, and Ardhra Raj, a nursing student pursuing her studies in Bengaluru.

The man who survived the life-threatening medical emergency has been identified as Sinoj (43), a lottery shop owner from Thannipuzha. After developing chest pain, Sinoj had set out for the hospital, driving his own car. However, he became caught in a traffic jam near the Kalady bridge and suddenly collapsed inside his vehicle. People at the scene were left confused and unsure how to respond.

Anjali and Ardhra, who were travelling in a KSRTC bus on the same road, noticed a crowd gathered by the roadside. Realising the seriousness of the situation, they immediately got off the bus and rushed to the car. On examining Sinoj, they found that he was suffering a heart attack and immediately began administering CPR inside the vehicle.

Members of the public also acted swiftly by clearing a path through the traffic, allowing the vehicle to proceed to the hospital in Angamaly. Throughout the journey, the two nurses continued administering CPR. As the vehicle neared the hospital, Sinoj's condition began to improve. He was admitted for treatment, and doctors attended to him immediately. Hospital sources said he has now recovered and is out of danger.

The timely response and life-saving efforts of the two nurses, along with the prompt assistance provided by local residents despite the severe traffic congestion, have drawn widespread appreciation on social media.
