Mangaluru, Aug 19: St Aloysius PU College is organising 'GENESIS 2026', a celebration of science, innovation, and creativity, providing students with a platform to showcase their knowledge, ideas, and problem-solving abilities. The event commenced on August 18 and will conclude on Thursday, August 20.

The programme features two major segments: an interdisciplinary competition and a model-making competition. The interdisciplinary competition brings together students from different streams, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology, encouraging them to combine knowledge from various fields and develop innovative concepts.

The model-making competition is being conducted across eight different categories, including water and environment, human health and biology, sustainable development, electronics and automation, and computer science and artificial intelligence. The diverse categories encourage participants to explore contemporary challenges and present creative, practical solutions.

The event has witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 700 students representing 130 teams. The young participants have demonstrated exemplary creativity, scientific temperament, and a keen desire to address real-world challenges through innovation.

Students participating in GENESIS 2026 described the event as an enriching experience, sharing that the exhibition allowed them to gain insights into several new concepts. They noted that the working models and projects related to electronics, physics, and allied fields helped broaden their practical understanding. The students expressed gratitude to the management and staff for providing a valuable platform to learn, explore, and showcase their talents.

Members of the student organising committee also shared their journey, mentioning that preparations had been underway for nearly a month. They expressed immense pride and satisfaction in seeing the exhibition come to fruition successfully, thanking the college management for entrusting them with the responsibility.

Speaking about the initiative, Arun D'Souza from the department of computer science lauded the students' enthusiasm and innovative mindset. He remarked that the participants had looked beyond conventional thinking to develop impactful ideas that could contribute meaningfully to society.

With another day of activities scheduled for Thursday, GENESIS 2026 continues to offer budding innovators an inspiring environment to experiment and transform their ideas into practical solutions.
