Udupi, Jun 30: In the wake of multiple fake email threats targeting court premises, the district administration and police have decided to conduct thorough security checks at the courts every morning before court proceedings begin. The decision was taken to ensure that any suspicious materials or objects are identified and cleared in advance, thereby avoiding unnecessary disruption to court functioning even if fresh threat emails are received.
A fresh hoax bomb threat was received via email by the district court on June 30, marking the fourth such threat to the court. The email, sent at 8.56 am from an ID identified as davidiya.durgastalinunderworld.dog, claimed that six hydrogen cyanide chemical bombs would explode simultaneously in courts across Karnataka and Tamil Nadu under the title ‘Operation Twin Blasts’ and urged the immediate evacuation of judges.

Court staff noticed the email only at around 1 pm and promptly informed the police. A police team, along with the bomb disposal squad and dog squad, conducted a thorough search of the court premises and surrounding areas. The threat was later confirmed to be a hoax. Court proceedings continued as usual after the inspection, with judges, lawyers, and litigants remaining calm throughout.
Following discussions with the principal district and sessions judge (PDJ), it has also been decided to deploy additional security personnel and install door-frame metal detectors on a temporary basis, subject to the availability of manpower and resources.
Officials said efforts are also underway to trace the origin of the fake threat emails. Authorities are coordinating with police units in other districts and states, besides working closely with central agencies, as part of the investigation.
