Udupi: Scooter rider seriously injured in collision with car at Manipal

Udupi, Jun 20: A scooter rider sustained serious injuries in a collision between a car and a scooter near the petrol bunk junction at Eshwar Nagar in Manipal.

The injured has been identified as Abhishek, a resident of Garadi in Herga village.

He suffered severe head injuries, along with injuries to his hands and legs, and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The car was travelling from Kundapur towards Bajegoli. The accident occurred when the scooter rider was negotiating a turn near the petrol bunk, resulting in a collision with the car.

The Manipal police have registered a case.

    Although i do not judge either of the parties in this case, this particular spot sees lots of 2 wheeler and even 4 wheeler riders coming on the wrong side until they reach the divider so that they can proceed towards Manipal. Across Udupi, the lack of civic sense particularly in lane discipline, follow 1 way, looking both ways before joining main road is increasing alarmingly over the last couple of years. Paired with the increasing traffic, road accidents are only go on an upward trend. Request all readers to kindly follow the traffic rules, have patience and be courteous, and drive safely.

    Either scooter rider would have tried to throttle or car driver would have tried to fly off the car...
