Mangaluru: Rowdy-sheeter absconding for two years arrested on court warrant

Mangaluru, Jun 9: Kankanady Town Police have arrested a rowdy-sheeter who had been absconding for nearly two years after failing to appear before the court in connection with a theft case.

The accused has been identified as Rummy alias Ramiz, a resident of Julaika House, Shantinagar, Faizal Nagar, Mangaluru.

According to police, five criminal cases are registered against him at Kankanady Town, Mangaluru Rural, Ullal, Mangaluru South and Mangaluru East police stations.

The court had issued an arrest warrant against Ramiz in connection with Kankanady Town police station crime no. 136/2017 under Section 379 IPC. However, he had remained absconding and had not appeared before the court for nearly two years.

A warrant execution team from Kankanady Town police station comprising head constable Balaraj, constable Ravikumar and constable Yuvaraj traced and arrested the accused at Konappana Agrahara in Bengaluru on June 8.

The accused was subsequently produced before the court.
