India cuts export duty on petrol, diesel, ATF from June 1

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi

New Delhi, May 31: The Central government has announced a reduction in export duties on petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) for the fortnight beginning June 1.

According to an official statement issued on Saturday, the export duty on petrol has been fixed at Rs 1.5 per litre, while diesel exports will attract a duty of Rs 13.5 per litre. The export duty on ATF has been set at Rs 9.5 per litre.

The government said the duty rates are revised every fortnight based on the average international prices of crude oil, petrol, diesel and ATF recorded since the previous review period.

Officials clarified that there will be no change in the existing excise duty rates on petrol and diesel supplied for domestic consumption.

The revision is part of the government's mechanism to periodically adjust export duties in line with fluctuations in global energy prices while safeguarding domestic fuel availability and revenue interests.
