‘Do not give bribes’ boards mandatory in Karnataka govt offices

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Apr 9: In a firm step to curb corruption in government offices, the state government has directed that ‘Do not give bribes’ boards be mandatorily installed in all its offices across Karnataka.

Chief secretary Shalini Rajneesh has issued the directive, stating that the move is aimed at preventing bribery and enhancing transparency in government functioning.

As per the order, all government offices must display boards carrying the message ‘Do not give bribes’. The boards should also provide clear information on what action citizens can take if any government employee demands a bribe, along with the helpline number of the Lokayukta.

The message on the board should read: “Do not give bribes. If anyone in this office demands a bribe or if you have information regarding corruption, you may lodge a complaint with the concerned authorities or the Karnataka Lokayukta.”

In line with the recommendations of the Karnataka Administrative Reforms Committee-2, the government has decided to display anti-corruption messages in both Kannada and English to promote transparency in offices.

Additionally, all heads of departments, secretaries, and additional chief secretaries have been instructed to install another board in their offices containing complete details of the Lokayukta, including telephone numbers, addresses, and email IDs of the head office as well as district offices.

The order applies to all government offices, boards, corporations, and aided institutions across the state.

This is just waste of money and time. Only for correction of name in RTC, I visited Panchayat many times. Everytime, they are asking new record. I am not ready to bribe.

Note down serial numbers of all money you bribe and then inform Lokayukta about the person you bribed. You will get your money back and job done.

This board is of no use unless you take a strict measure to dismiss (not suspension) the bribe taking official & hold his all gratuity & pension. Then only others will think twice. Also all work should come under sakala to avoid unreasonable delay

    THE BOARD SHOULD HAVE BEEN " I AM NOT CORRUPT, I AM NOT TAKING BRIBE, AND I AM NOT GIVING BRIBE" "ನಾನು ಭ್ರಹ್ಠನಲ್ಲ. ನಾನು ಲಂಚ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ನಾನು ಲಂಚ ಕೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ".

I do bad to you and you do bad to me – doing bad to one another is the tactic used by devil. D-evil is very clever. Evil pleases devil. Overcome all temptations of devil by consciously doing good and not doing bad. We should make all efforts to see what is good and what is bad. There are two kinds of people. Good and bad. Bad people should become good and there is no other way. Good people should become very good, very very good, better and the best. Finaly we all should be “the best of the best” - god like people. There are plenty of good people in the world but not enough because the mountain of bad is so huge that it can be cleared only by each and every one becoming good. Thank you and God bless each and every one of us.
