The deceased has been identified as Alimabi (62), a resident of Gandhi Nagar in Koteshwar.

According to reports, Alimabi had attended a wedding reception in Thekkatte. At around 10 pm, while she was crossing the highway along with three other women to return home, a KSRTC bus travelling from Mangaluru towards Badami-Aihole reportedly rammed into her. Witnesses attributed the accident to overspeeding and negligent driving by the bus driver.

Due to the impact of the collision, Alimabi sustained severe head and body injuries and died on the spot. Locals and police immediately shifted the body to the Government Hospital in Kundapur for post-mortem examination.

Alimabi is survived by four sons and one daughter. Notably, one son and one daughter are mentally challenged and were under her constant care. Her sudden demise has left the two dependent children helpless, raising serious concerns among the local community regarding their future.

Very sad to note this accidental death . May departed soul rest in peace In the meantime it is not always good blame the driver, especially in such scenarios where the deceased is crossing the road at night around 10:00 pm. Everyone must know the conditions of highway between Kundapur and Mangalore. There is no street lights anywhere, except on few places near village areas. The highways are meant for long travel and high speed driving, especially during night. I, myself feeling hardship in driving during night on this belt and forced put beam lights for find any movement on the road and to see any one is crossing the road and limiting the speed maximum to 60 Kms per hour. On so many instances I found people crossing the highways in dark areas which is very dangerous and speeding vehicles unable to put the brakes on sudden spotting movements on the dark roads. The concerned authorities should take the note of the same and do the needful to put street lights on entire belt to save the risking lives. On the other hand see the highways from Mangalore to Kasargod and other entire Kerala highways , highly advanced, multiple lanes having street lights in line continuously from Mangalore toll passing to deep in Kerala, giving of feeling driving in Foreign country with no record of such accidents inspite of speeding in driving. Rather than blaming only drivers the people should also be cautious while crossing and the concerned authorities should also be blamed for such accidents.
