Mangaluru: Anisa Fathima awarded PhD from Mangalore University

Mangaluru, Mar 28: Anisa Fathima, former resident editor of Daijiworld.com, has been awarded PhD in English by Mangalore University.

She was conferred the doctorate degree during the 44th annual convocation of Mangalore University held at the university campus on Saturday March 28 for her thesis titled, ‘Response to Violence in Post-9/11 Scenario: A Study of Selected Works on Iraq and Afghanistan by Muslim Writers’.

Her research was guided by Dr Rajalakshmi N K, (retired) associate professor, University College Mangalore.

Daughter of chartered accountant Sheikh Abdullah, Anisa completed her school education from Besant Institution, followed by bachelor's degree and MA in English from St Aloysius College (Autonomous). She joined Daijiworld as a staff correspondent covering news and writing features and opinion articles, and went on to become resident editor in 2011. She formally quit Daijiworld in 2018 to pursue doctoral studies.

Anisa's research focuses on the impact of post-9/11 US-led invasions into Iraq and Afghanistan, particularly studying the response of civilians to war and violence as portrayed in selected literary works by Muslims authors.
