Hubballi, Mar 21: A tragic accident occurred while filming a viral reel involving high-speed bike and luxury car stunts, resulting in the death of a BJP leader’s son in Hubballi.
The deceased has been identified as 15-year-old Namish Sangalad, son of BJP leader Veerabhadrappa Sangalad. The accident took place while a video was being shot of Namish riding a bike alongside an Audi car.
Namish, who was studying in class 9 in Mysuru, had returned to his home in Hubballi for the Ugadi holidays. The incident occurred on Thursday when the 15-year-old, along with his friends, had gone to Shejavada for filming reels. The plan involved shooting stunt visuals using a high-speed bike and an Audi car, which later went viral on social media. The Audi car involved in the accident was being driven by another 15-year-old boy.

While filming the reels, the speeding car rammed into the bike ridden by Namish. Due to the impact of the collision, he died on the spot.
Veerabhadrappa has lodged a police complaint against the minor who was allegedly driving the car, holding him responsible for his son’s death. According to the complaint, the accident occurred between 4.30 pm and 4.45 pm in the secluded Shejawadkar Layout area in the Unkal region of Hubballi.
The complaint states that the minor was driving the Audi Q7 in a negligent, zig-zag manner while filming a reel on a mobile phone. During the act, the car crashed into the electric bike ridden by Nameesh, who was approaching from the opposite direction.
Hubballi police have registered a case against the minor under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The First Information Report (FIR) notes that the teenager riding the electric bike sustained severe injuries to his head and legs and died on the spot.
Explaining the sequence of events, police commissioner N Shashikumar said that the incident occurred while attempting to shoot an ‘action brake’ reel, in which two vehicles approach each other at high speed and suddenly apply brakes. However, the car driver lost control and collided with the bike, leading to the fatality.
The Audi Q7 involved in the accident was originally registered in Noida in 2013 and was later sold to a buyer in Hubballi. A no-objection certificate (NOC) was issued by the Noida RTO to the Dharwad West RTO in 2022.
