Perth, Mar 8: Australia women's national cricket team ensured that captain Alyssa Healy ended her international career on a victorious note, crushing India women's national cricket team by 10 wickets on Day 3 of the one-off Test at the WACA Ground in Perth on Sunday.
With the emphatic win, Australia clinched the multi-format series 12–4, leaving India with no chance of a comeback in the overall standings.
India had started the tour strongly by winning the T20I series 2–1, but the hosts turned the tide by sweeping the ODI series before sealing the multi-format contest with the victory in the lone Test match. In the end, India concluded the tour with just two wins across formats.
Resuming Day 3 at 105/6 in their second innings, India looked to rebuild through Pratika Rawal and Sneh Rana, both of whom showed positive intent with the bat.
Rawal marked her Test debut with a memorable moment, bringing up her maiden half-century in the 34th over after facing 105 balls. Australia finally broke the partnership in the 41st over when Ashleigh Gardner bowled Rana for 30 off 54 deliveries.
India’s troubles deepened in the very next over as Alana King dismissed Kashvee Gautam, leaving the visitors struggling at 134/8. Rawal continued to counterattack but the innings ended quickly when Australia dismissed both Sayali Satghare and Rawal within three balls.
India were bowled out for 149, setting Australia a modest target of 25 runs. Rawal’s fighting knock of 63 was the highlight of the innings.
The hosts wrapped up the chase comfortably in just 4.3 overs without losing a wicket. Georgia Voll remained unbeaten on 16, while Phoebe Litchfield finished not out on 11 to secure the win.
Earlier in the match, India posted 198 in their first innings after being put in to bat, with a half-century from Jemimah Rodrigues and 35 from Shafali Verma. For Australia, Annabel Sutherland was the standout performer with four wickets, while Lucy Hamilton claimed three.
Australia responded strongly with 323 in their first innings, powered by a match-defining 129 from Sutherland. Veteran all-rounder Ellyse Perry added 76, helping the hosts secure a decisive 125-run lead that ultimately proved too much for India to overcome.
