Doha, Mar 8: The meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) scheduled to be held from March 25 to 27 in Doha, Qatar has been postponed due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

According to reports, the global cricket body informed its members about the postponement through a formal communication sent on Saturday. The meeting is now expected to be held sometime in April, although the ICC has not yet announced a new date. The organisation is also exploring the possibility of shifting the venue to another location in the region.

The meeting was expected to bring together ICC Board Directors, Chief Executives, committee members and senior officials as part of the governing body’s regular calendar to discuss key issues concerning the present and future of international cricket.

Earlier, the ICC had announced on February 22 that the meetings would be held in Doha, citing the council’s growing engagement with cricket in Qatar and the development of the country’s sporting ecosystem. The ICC had also highlighted its collaboration with the Qatar Cricket Association and the Qatar Olympic Committee to promote the sport in the country.

Meanwhile, several ICC officials are expected to be present in Ahmedabad for the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The city is also the home of Jay Shah, the current chair of the ICC. With New Zealand national cricket team featuring in the final, New Zealand Cricket chairman Roger Twose is expected to attend the match.

Other officials likely to be present include Tavengwa Mukuhlani, chairman of Zimbabwe Cricket, and Mohammed Moosajee, chairman of Cricket South Africa, along with several board representatives.

However, there was no immediate confirmation regarding the presence of Aminul Islam, president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, who is believed to be in Melbourne. Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, is also not expected to attend.
