Bengaluru, Mar 1: With the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel causing severe disruptions in the Middle East, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday assured that the state government is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety and rescue of Kannadigas stranded in various countries, particularly Dubai.
In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), the chief minister stated that he has directed officials to prioritise the protection of people from Karnataka residing in war-hit regions. He also confirmed that he has held discussions with the resident commissioner in Delhi to coordinate rescue efforts.

"We are taking the safety of Kannadigas living in Middle Eastern nations, including Israel, UAE, Iran, and Qatar, very seriously. I have instructed the resident commissioner in Delhi to take all essential steps for their security," the CM stated.
Due to the suspension of flight services across the Middle East, many residents have been unable to return to the state. Siddaramaiah urged those currently stuck in conflict zones to move to safer locations as advised by local authorities.
Helpline to be launched
The chief minister further noted that he has ordered officials to set up a dedicated helpline for the affected individuals and their families. He appealed to family members in Karnataka not to panic if they are unable to establish immediate contact with their loved ones abroad. "The safety of every Kannadiga is our priority, and we are already working towards it," he assured.
Siddaramaiah also mentioned that former minister Nagendra had informed him about 32 individuals from Ballari currently stranded in Dubai. He confirmed that specific measures are being initiated to ensure their safety and eventual return.
