Hyderabad, Mar 1: Hockey India on Sunday unveiled a 20-member Indian Women’s Hockey Team squad for the upcoming FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 Qualifiers, set to take place in Hyderabad, Telangana, from March 8 to 14.
The tournament will feature eight teams — hosts India, England, Scotland, Korea, Italy, Uruguay, Wales, and Austria — battling for three coveted spots at the FIH Hockey World Cup, scheduled for August in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Tournament Pools
The teams have been split into two groups:
• Pool A: England, Korea, Italy, Austria
• Pool B: India, Scotland, Uruguay, Wales
India will kick off their campaign against Uruguay on March 8, followed by clashes with Scotland on March 9 and Wales on March 11.
Leadership and Squad Composition
Experienced midfielder Salima Tete will continue to lead the side, anchoring the midfield with her composure and tactical awareness.
Goalkeepers:
Bansari Solanki and Bichu Devi Kharibam will share responsibilities between the posts.
Defenders:
Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Nikki Pradhan, Manisha Chauhan, Udita, and Ishika Chaudhary form the defensive core.
Midfielders:
Neha, Salima Tete, Sunelita Toppo, Sakshi Rana, Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke, Rutaja Dadaso Pisal, and Deepika Soreng will operate in midfield roles.
Forwards:
Navneet Kaur, Ishika, Lalremsiami, Beauty Dungdung, Baljeet Kaur, and Annu will spearhead the attack, bringing pace and finishing strength to the frontline.
Coach’s Perspective
Newly appointed Chief Coach Sjoerd Marijne expressed optimism ahead of the tournament, stating that the team has focused heavily on fitness and tactical clarity during preparations. He added that two practice matches in Hyderabad will help fine-tune combinations and ensure match readiness.
With home advantage and a balanced squad blending experience and youth, India will aim to secure qualification and build momentum toward the 2026 World Cup.
