Second PUC examinations begin with strict surveillance measures in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 28: The annual Second PUC examinations for the academic year 2025–26 commenced on Saturday February 28 and will continue until March 17, with authorities putting in place elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth conduct across Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts.

A total of 37,337 candidates, including 18,745 boys and 18,592 girls, are set to appear for the upcoming II PUC exams across 59 centres in Dakshina Kannada district. The 59 examination centres include 15 government, 22 aided, and 22 unaided private colleges. Taluk-wise distribution of centres is as follows: Mangaluru (21), Bantwal (6), Beltangady (8), Puttur (5), Sullia (2), Kadaba (5), Moodbidri (6), Ullal (4), and Mulki (2).

In Udupi district, the examinations are being held at 29 centres, with a total of 17,181 students appearing for the exams. This includes 16,657 fresh students, 383 private candidates, 135 repeaters, and six candidates seeking improvement in their results. The department of school education has made comprehensive preparations, including the deployment of inspection teams and the installation of surveillance systems, to ensure transparency and fairness.

The examinations are being conducted from 10 am to 1 pm on all scheduled dates. The district administration has taken necessary measures to facilitate a secure and orderly environment at all centres.

Strict guidelines have been issued to candidates, prohibiting them from bringing mobile phones, smartwatches, or any other electronic gadgets into the examination centres. Authorities have directed that such devices must not be carried within the premises under any circumstances.

To prevent malpractice, CCTV cameras have been installed both inside and outside all examination halls at every centre. The footage is being monitored from the strong room at the deputy commissioner’s office.
