Sullia, Feb 22: Four persons sustained injuries after a speeding car rammed into their vehicle from behind on the Mani-Mysuru highway at Bolubailu in Jalsuru on February 21.
The victims, identified as Vasantha (also known as Chandrashekhara), Ramya, Rashmi, and Advit, residents of Halegetu in Sullia, were travelling to purchase clothes for an upcoming housewarming ceremony.
According to reports, a car with registration number KA 01 MG 2133, driven by one Manjunath, was being driven in a reckless and negligent manner. It crashed into the rear of Vasantha's car, causing the driver to lose control. Both vehicles were significantly damaged in the collision.

Allegations of drunk driving
The injured individuals were immediately rushed to a local hospital for treatment. The occupants of the car that caused the accident were identified as the driver, Manjunath, and a passenger named Jayarama.
Onlookers and members of the public at the site alleged that the driver, Manjunath, appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicant. They noted that even after the crash, he was behaving erratically and speaking incoherently.
The Sullia police have registered a case and are investigating the matter, including the allegations of driving under the influence.
