Kundapur, Jan 31: A car was completely gutted in a sudden fire incident that broke out while it was in motion near Sharke Cross at Vandse village on the Hemmadi–Kollur State Highway on Saturday January 31.

According to details, the car belonged to Bhaskar Achar, a resident of Bijadi. He had travelled to Aloor on work and was returning towards Kundapur at around 10 am when smoke accompanied by a loud sound was noticed from the front portion of the vehicle. Alerted by this, Bhaskar Achar immediately stopped the car on the roadside.

By then, the intensity of the fire had increased rapidly. Though local residents attempted to douse the flames, their efforts proved futile, and within a short time the entire car was reduced to ashes. As Bhaskar Achar managed to get out of the vehicle in time, no injuries were reported.

Preliminary information suggests that the fire may have been caused due to a short circuit. Personnel from the Kundapur Fire and Emergency Services and police from the Kollur police station visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
