Panaji, Jan 12: Former Allahabad High Court chief justice Ferdino Rebello is set to take forward his proposed “people’s movement” in Goa with two public interactions scheduled in Mapusa on January 14 and Margao on January 15.

The meetings are intended to deliberate on a proposed 10-point charter while laying the foundation for a broad, inclusive citizens’ platform that remains independent of political affiliations. The initiative seeks to unite people across the state around shared civic concerns.

Justice Rebello said the upcoming gatherings are aimed at fostering deeper public awareness about key issues affecting Goa and at bringing together activists, non-governmental organisations, and concerned individuals on a common forum.

Explaining the need for multiple public meetings, Rebello stressed that clarity and grassroots participation are essential for any movement to gain momentum. He noted that people must fully grasp the challenges being addressed and that sustained efforts require local groups working collectively across regions.

He also highlighted the importance of connecting long-time activists who have engaged in various public-interest struggles over the years. According to Rebello, the broader vision is to create a structured network and a shared database so that future civic campaigns are coordinated rather than fragmented, ensuring that public movements are stronger and more effective over time.
