Kadaba, Sep 6: A major tragedy was averted by a hair's breadth due to the sheer presence of mind of a driver after a KSRTC bus suddenly caught fire late at night on Saturday, September 5. All 37 passengers on board managed to escape unhurt.
The KSRTC bus was plying from Subrahmanya towards Bengaluru. The incident occurred late in the night when the bus reached a place called Erumail on the Kaikamba-Gundya road in Bilinele village. The driver noticed thick smoke and flames suddenly emanating from the moving bus. Reacting swiftly to the danger, he immediately pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and alerted all the passengers to evacuate without delay.

Thanks to the driver's timely and conscious decision, all 37 passengers were able to alight from the vehicle safely before the flames could spread. Within moments of the evacuation, the fire completely engulfed the vehicle, reducing the bus to ashes.
Upon receiving information from the locals and the bus crew, fire brigade and police personnel rushed to the spot. Firefighters carried out a swift operation to douse the flames. Kadaba police officials also visited the scene and conducted an inspection. Preliminary suspicions suggest that a short circuit might have triggered the fire.
