Varanasi, Sep 6: Securing the 21st All India Rank (AIR) in the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025, Varanasi native Shubham Singh has proved that perseverance pays off. Singh achieved this remarkable feat in his final attempt while concurrently serving as a deputy director in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

Hailing from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, Shubham grew up in an environment that valued education and discipline. His father, Vijay Pratap Singh, served as a veterinary doctor before becoming the chief veterinary officer, while his mother is a homemaker. After completing his 12th grade in his hometown, Shubham pursued a BTech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur. He later gained professional experience and completed a postgraduate diploma from Ashoka University under the Young India Fellowship.

Balancing a demanding job with rigorous exam preparation, Shubham’s UPSC journey began in 2016. After failing to clear the Mains exam in 2017, he bounced back in his second attempt in 2018, securing a spot in the Indian Corporate Law Service (ICLS). He joined the service in 2019 and currently serves as a deputy director. However, his ultimate dream of becoming an IAS officer kept him motivated to continue his preparation.

In 2020, he was selected for the Indian Postal Service but chose not to join. He appeared for the exam again in 2023 but could not make it to the final selection round. Undeterred by the setbacks and the pressure of his final attempt, Shubham’s years of dedication and time management culminated in success when he cracked the UPSC 2025 exams with an impressive AIR 21, inspiring thousands of civil service aspirants across the country.
