Panaji, Jan 12: In a move aimed at strengthening surveillance and public safety, the State government is set to roll out an integrated, artificial intelligence-enabled CCTV-based tracking and monitoring system across government departments and autonomous bodies.
The Info-Tech Corporation (ITG) has floated a tender for an advanced CCTV software platform designed to enhance real-time surveillance, analytics, reporting and automated alerts across government offices, public institutions and facilities spread throughout the State.

According to the tender document, the proposed system will offer a secure, centralised and web-based platform for comprehensive monitoring of existing CCTV infrastructure. It will support live camera feeds along with intelligent features such as face detection and recognition, footfall and crowd analysis, smoke and fire detection, and object tracking.
Authorised officials will be able to access dashboards and detailed analytical reports to ensure effective supervision of assets, activities and public spaces. The initiative is expected to improve situational awareness, strengthen public safety and enable data-driven decision-making through advanced video analytics.
As part of the project, the selected bidder will supply a face detection and recognition solution capable of analysing both live video streams and recorded footage. The system will allow enrolment of facial data along with details such as name, mobile number, Aadhaar number, address and other attributes as defined by respective departments.
The project also includes a footfall and crowd monitoring module to analyse human movement using CCTV feeds. Camera-wise configurations will help authorities define regions of interest to classify entry and exit movements, aiding crowd control and infrastructure planning.
In addition, a video-based smoke and fire detection system will be deployed to identify incidents with minimal response time, generating real-time alerts and notifications for swift action by authorised personnel.
Officials said continuous monitoring and evaluation of CCTV infrastructure is essential to ensure the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of surveillance initiatives undertaken by the government.
