Panaji, Dec 26: Drishti Marine lifesavers were kept on high alert across Goa’s beaches on Christmas Day, rescuing six persons from drowning and tracing six missing children amid heavy tourist crowds.
According to Drishti Marine, incidents were reported from several beaches in North and South Goa. Lifesavers also attended to two cases of jellyfish stings and provided medical assistance to a Russian tourist who was injured after slipping on rocks.

At Arambol beach, a 33-year-old woman from Cunchelim, Mapusa, was rescued after facing difficulty in the sweetwater lake. In another incident at the same beach, a seven-year-old girl found alone was traced and reunited with her family through coordination between tower staff and vehicle patrol teams.
Two 23-year-old men from Hyderabad were rescued at Mandrem beach after being pulled into deeper waters. Lifesavers brought them safely ashore using rescue equipment with the assistance of jet skis. At Morjim beach, a man and woman from Mumbai were similarly rescued after struggling in the sea.
At Baga beach, three children who went missing at different times during the day were traced at various stretches of the crowded shoreline and reunited with their families after verification. A three-year-old boy from Kolhapur was also found alone near the main entrance of Calangute beach and safely handed over to his family.
At Candolim beach, a seven-year-old boy from Punjab was rescued after facing difficulty while swimming, while a three-year-old girl from Mumbai who had wandered away was later traced and reunited with her family.
Lifesavers also responded to medical emergencies. A 20-year-old tourist from Jammu and Kashmir and a 10-year-old boy from Pune were treated for jellyfish stings at Baina and Benaulim beaches respectively, and discharged after first aid. At Palolem beach, a 42-year-old Russian tourist who slipped on rocks suffered deep cuts on both legs and was provided immediate first aid before being advised further medical treatment.
Drishti Marine said heightened vigilance helped prevent major mishaps during the festive rush and urged visitors to follow beach safety guidelines.
