Panaji: Voter list anomaly in Madgaon raises concerns over accuracy

Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji

Panaji, Dec 19: Following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, the Election Commission released the updated draft voter list. While several names were removed and un-mapped voters re-verified, a startling discrepancy emerged in the Madgaon constituency: a single household was found to have 39 voters registered under eight different surnames, calling into question the reliability of the draft list.

Activist Chirag Naik drew attention to the irregularity, expressing concern over how such an error could persist even after the extensive SIR process.

He stressed the importance of transparency and accuracy in voter records and urged a thorough investigation to address the anomaly. Naik’s observations highlight the need to rectify discrepancies to ensure free, fair, and credible elections.
