AAP chief extends Goa Liberation Day greetings, reiterates push for clean, people-first governance

Panaji, Dec 19: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday extended warm greetings to the people of Goa on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day, commemorating the state’s freedom from Portuguese rule on December 19, 1961.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Kejriwal said, “On the occasion of Goa Liberation Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings to the wonderful people of Goa. Let us honour our freedom fighters by pledging to build a corruption-free Goa with accessible healthcare, better roads and employment opportunities for all.”

AAP leaders said the party’s commitment to governance reforms in Goa is reflected in its growing focus on public healthcare. In July 2023, the party inaugurated its first ‘Good Health’ clinic in Benaulim, represented by AAP MLA Venzy Viegas. The clinic, inspired by the Mohalla Clinic model successfully implemented in Delhi and Punjab, marked a key step in the party’s outreach in the coastal state.

The initiative was subsequently expanded to the neighbouring Velim constituency under AAP MLA Cruz Silva. Since then, the party has been organising health camps across Salcete and nearby regions, aiming to provide affordable and quality healthcare services to local residents.

AAP leaders maintain that such initiatives underscore the party’s promise of accessible, citizen-focused governance in Goa, aligning development goals with the ideals of the freedom movement.
