Patna, Dec 3: The political heat surrounding RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family has intensified once again, as the NDA government has now sought an Enforcement Directorate investigation into the alleged accumulation of disproportionate assets by the family.
The move comes at a time when the family has shifted to a new residence in Mahuabagh, Danapur, after former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi was directed to vacate her government-allotted bungalow at 10, Circular Road. The property had been assigned to her in 2006, first as a former chief minister and later as Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly. Following the NDA’s rise to power, Rabri Devi was allotted another official residence at 39 Hardinge Road in her capacity as Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council.

The BJP launched a fresh attack on the RJD leadership over the family’s new house, alleging that the mansion stands on “looted land.” State BJP spokesperson Neeraj Kumar criticised the family’s political narrative, accusing them of restricting socialism to “dynasty and family justice.”
JD(U) chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar also took a dig, calling the new residence “grander than Patna’s historic Golghar,” and alleged that it was built using ill-gotten wealth.
Meanwhile, RJD leaders strongly hit back, calling the development a politically motivated attempt to humiliate the family. State RJD president Mangani Lal Mandal said that the government’s actions were intended only to target Lalu Prasad and his kin. Senior leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui remarked that Rabri Devi’s shift from the long-occupied Circular Road residence was inevitable, noting she would be “better off” moving to the family’s private home in Danapur.
The RJD has declared that it will strongly oppose any move to forcibly evict the family from the Circular Road property, where they have lived for nearly two decades.
