Goa, Nov 30: Over the past six years, Raymond D’Cunha Taccode has written one Charoli (four-line poem) every day in his mother tongue, Konkani. With more than two thousand charoli's written and published to date, he was felicitated as the "Charoli King" by EDC Publications at Panaji, Goa.

In the programme held at the conference hall of the Goa Konkani Academy, renowned Bollywood singer and lyricist Prashant Ingole was present as the chief guest. Felicitating Raymond, he said, “Unique talents bloom silently. One must move aside the leaf to discover their fragrance and honour them.”

Senior writer Anaga Kamath of 'Ugtem Molab' presided over the programme. Former soldier, writer, lyricist, multilingual singer and journalist John Aguiar was the guest of honour and conveyed his best wishes. Avinash Kunkolkar was also honoured during the event.

Anaga Kamath welcomed the gathering. Annie De Colvale, representative of EDC Publications, proposed the vote of thanks. The program was compered by Gracious Furtado.

Later, prizes were distributed to the winners of the poetry competition.

First prize: Sandesh Bandekar Karwar, Second prize: Satyavan Jagale Goa, Third prize: Sunita Pednekar

Consolation winners: Jude Fernandes, Anna Pereira Rodrigues, Namdev Surlikar, Avinash Kunkolkar.

Following the ceremony, the monthly poetry session of Ugtem Molab was held and led by senior poet Sheetal Salgaonkar.
