Goa, Nov 28: The curtains will fall on the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025 today with a grand closing ceremony celebrating cinema’s finest. The star-studded event will pay a heartfelt tribute to legendary actor Dharmendra, while also honouring superstar Rajinikanth as he completes 50 years in Indian cinema.
The festival, which began on November 20, brought together an exceptional lineup of over 240 films from 81 countries, turning Goa into a vibrant global hub of creativity and storytelling.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, I&B Secretary Sanjay Jaju, and festival chairman Shekhar Kapur will grace the closing ceremony, alongside several prominent filmmakers, actors and international delegates.
Throughout the festival, a series of masterclasses captivated cinephiles, featuring insights from industry icons such as Shekhar Kapur, Rajkumar Hirani, Aamir Khan, Ramesh Sippy, Muzaffar Ali, and Nagarjuna. The festival also paid homage to cinematic greats Guru Dutt, Raj Khosla, and Ritwik Ghatak, whose contributions continue to shape Indian cinema’s legacy.
Anticipation is high as IFFI prepares to present its most prestigious honours — the Golden Peacock, Silver Peacock, and the ICFT UNESCO awards. Cine-lovers and participants are eagerly awaiting to see which film will emerge as the winner of the coveted Golden Peacock.
As the 56th edition comes to an end, IFFI 2025 stands tall as a celebration of cinematic brilliance, cultural exchange, and the enduring power of storytelling that brings the world together through the screen.
