Mangaluru, Nov 14: In a major initiative to increase student enrolment in government schools, a district-wide Parent–Teacher Conference will be held on November 14, from 10 am to 1:30 pm across 1,559 educational institutions in Dakshina Kannada district.

The event aims to strengthen the connection between parents and the education system, instil confidence in government schools and colleges, and share information about various government education programmes. Parents will also have an opportunity to voice concerns and offer suggestions to improve the learning environment.

As part of the event, schools will highlight the academic and co-curricular achievements of students. In institutions with lower enrolment, all parents are invited, while in schools with higher student strength, at least 100 parents will attend based on available space.

During the sessions, discussions will cover students’ progress, attendance, exam preparation, and awareness about various education-related acts. The programme is being conducted simultaneously across the state.

In addition, as part of government instructions to compensate for holidays taken during the socio-economic survey period, schools have been directed to extend class hours either in the morning or evening, ensuring students’ safety and effective learning. Classes may also be conducted on Sundays where necessary. This measure is intended to help SSLC students complete their syllabus and begin revision sessions by December.
