Ullal mosque bomb threat post: Suo motu case registered; Khader calls for strict action

Mangaluru, Mar 3: The Ullal police have registered a suo motu case against a miscreant who posted a provocative comment on an Instagram page carrying the photograph of Suhas Shetty, a Hindu organisation worker who was murdered in Bajje, threatening to carry out a bomb blast near a mosque in Ullal and seeking support.

The provocative message was posted from an Instagram account named ‘Shankar11916’, stating, “Support maadi bro Ullal masjid hatra bomb blast maadtini” (Support me bro, I will carry out a bomb blast near the Ullal mosque). The post went viral on social media.

On Monday, Santosh Doddmani, a staff member of the Ullal police station who was on social media monitoring duty, noticed the message and filed a complaint. Based on his complaint, a case has been registered at the Ullal police station.

The complaint states that the accused made the provocative comment on social media with the intention of creating enmity between different religions, inciting violence, and instigating people. It further mentions that appropriate legal action should be taken against the accused. Police commissioner Sudheer Reddy has stated that the person who posted the message will be arrested.

Meanwhile, Assembly Speaker U T Khader has instructed that strict action be taken against the miscreant who posted the message on social media.

Speaking to the police commissioner regarding the matter, Khader stated that people of all religions in Ullal are living in harmony and that the police department must remain vigilant against attempts to disturb communal harmony through such threatening posts.
