Mumbai, Nov 3: Following India’s historic triumph in the ICC Women’s ODI Cricket World Cup 2025, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a whopping cash reward of Rs 51 crore for the Women in Blue.
The long-awaited moment of glory arrived at the DY Patil Stadium, where India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final, ending decades of heartbreak that included the 2005 and 2017 losses. This victory marked India’s first-ever Women’s World Cup title.

Announcing the reward, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia told ANI, “BCCI has announced a reward of Rs 51 crore for the entire team — players, coaches, and support staff. In 1983, Kapil Dev inspired a new era in Indian cricket with the men’s World Cup win. Today, our women have reignited that same spirit and pride for the nation.”
The Rs 51 crore prize will be distributed among players, coaches, and support staff, in addition to the Rs 40 crore prize money awarded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to the champions.
Shafali Verma was named Player of the Match for her blistering knock and crucial spell of bowling, while Deepti Sharma was crowned Player of the Tournament for her stellar all-round performance, scoring 215 runs and claiming 22 wickets in the tournament. In the final, Deepti’s all-round brilliance — a gritty half-century and a five-wicket haul — played a decisive role in India’s victory.
Saikia also praised the team’s performance and the progress of women’s cricket in India, stating, “Women’s cricket reached a new level when our team defeated Australia in the semifinals. Recent administrative reforms, including pay parity and enhanced ICC prize structures, have truly elevated the women’s game.”
India’s World Cup victory has sparked celebrations across the nation, marking the dawn of a new era for women’s cricket in the country.
