Woman accuses Blinkit delivery driver of harassment; video fuels online debate

Daijiworld Media Network – Mumbai

Mumbai, Oct 5: A woman in Mumbai has accused a Blinkit delivery driver of inappropriate touching, sharing a video on X that has sparked widespread discussion about women’s safety and accountability in delivery services.

In the video, the driver, wearing Blinkit's yellow uniform, hands over a parcel and takes payment. As he returns the change, he appears to touch the woman’s chest, prompting her to place the package in front of her to prevent further contact. The woman expressed frustration over Blinkit's initial response, claiming that her verbal complaint had only resulted in a warning and mandatory sensitivity training for the driver. She added that the company acted decisively to terminate the driver’s contract only after she provided video proof of the incident.

“This is what happened with me today while ordering from Blinkit. The delivery guy asked for my address again and then touched me inappropriately. This is NOT acceptable. @letsblinkit please take strict action. #Harassment #Safety …is women safety a joke in India?” she wrote on X alongside the video.

Blinkit later confirmed action had been taken, stating, “Hi, we appreciate your time over the phone. We're truly sorry for the incident and understand how upsetting this must be. Please be assured that the necessary actions have been taken as discussed.” Mumbai police also responded to her post, requesting her to share contact details via DM.

Social media reactions were mixed. Many supported the woman, calling for strict action against the driver, while others suggested the contact might have been accidental. One user noted, “It’s clearly evident, he didn’t do it intentionally… You are seeking attention!” Another countered, “It’s evident that this guy's actions were deliberate and not accidental. It's highly inappropriate and a violation of personal space and safety.”

The incident has reignited conversations about women’s safety during home deliveries and the accountability of app-based service providers.
