New Delhi, Sep 25: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has officially revealed the group stage draw for the 2025-26 Super Cup, promising a thrilling edition of the competition that blends Indian Super League (ISL) and I-League teams. Divided into four groups of four, the format remains high-pressure, with only the group winners advancing to the semi-finals — making every match a must-win.
The stakes are even higher this season, as the Super Cup champion will earn a playoff spot in the 2026-27 AFC Champions League Two, giving clubs not just silverware to chase but also a coveted continental opportunity.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant, the reigning ISL champions, and defending Super Cup winners FC Goa have been seeded as group leaders. The draw has thrown up mouth-watering encounters — none more electrifying than the possibility of a Kolkata Derby in Group A.
Group A features a fierce lineup with Mohun Bagan Super Giant, East Bengal FC, Chennaiyin FC, and Real Kashmir FC. With the Kolkata rivals facing off early in the group, the clash could prove decisive in the race to the semis.
Group B is another loaded bracket. FC Goa and Jamshedpur FC — last season’s finalists — are drawn together again, setting the stage for a fiery rematch. NorthEast United FC and Inter Kashi FC (making their tournament debut) complete the group, with all eyes on whether Goa can defend their crown or if Jamshedpur will settle the score.
Group C brings together Bengaluru FC (inaugural Super Cup champions in 2018), Mohammedan SC, Punjab FC, and Gokulam Kerala FC. This group offers a balance of legacy and ambition, with Bengaluru looking to reassert dominance and others keen to cause an upset.
Group D is led by Mumbai City FC, with Kerala Blasters FC, Hyderabad FC, and Rajasthan United FC adding depth. The Mumbai–Kerala encounter is expected to draw strong attention, while Hyderabad and Rajasthan aim to challenge the pecking order.
Since its inception in 2018, the Super Cup has grown in importance, producing a range of champions from Bengaluru FC and FC Goa to Odisha FC (2023) and East Bengal FC (2024). With the return of the tournament post-COVID hiatus and the increased competition among clubs, the 2025-26 edition is set to be one of the most exciting yet.
