Mumbai, Sep 3: Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has announced the closure of her popular Bandra-based restaurant, Bastian, even as she and her husband Raj Kundra face allegations of defrauding a Mumbai businessman of over Rs 60 crore.
Taking to her social media handle, Shilpa penned an emotional note, describing Thursday as the “end of an era” for one of Mumbai’s iconic dining destinations. “This Thursday marks the end of an era as we bid farewell to BASTIAN BANDRA — a venue that gave us countless memories, unforgettable nights, and moments that shaped the city’s nightlife,” she wrote.

She further informed that the restaurant will host a special evening for its loyal patrons, filled with “nostalgia, energy, and magic,” before shutting its doors permanently. However, Shilpa clarified that their Thursday night ritual, Arcane Affair, would continue at Bastian at the Top, carrying forward the brand’s legacy.
Co-owned by Shilpa Shetty and restaurateur Ranjit Bindra, Bastian first opened its doors in 2016 and was later relocated to Bandra in 2023. Known for its artistic décor and curated dining experience, the restaurant has been a popular hotspot for celebrities and food enthusiasts alike.
Meanwhile, controversy continues to cloud the actress and her husband. Businessman Deepak Kothari has filed a case against the couple, alleging fraud in connection with a loan-cum-investment scheme linked to their defunct venture Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd. According to the complaint, funds meant for business expansion were allegedly misappropriated for personal expenses between 2015 and 2023.
While the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has registered the case, the couple’s lawyer, Prashant Patil, has dismissed the charges as “baseless,” asserting that the matter was already adjudicated by the NCLT in October 2024.
