Mangaluru, July 15: Heavy rains on Monday in the Thokkottu area led to artificial flooding at the Thokkottu Junction, causing significant inconvenience to both vehicular traffic and pedestrians.
Due to unscientific construction of the national highway in the area, rainwater failed to drain properly into the designated stormwater channels and instead overflowed onto the road. The lack of regular desilting at the junction has further worsened the situation.

Despite the construction of a four-lane road from Thokkottu Junction to Chembugudde at a cost of approximately Rs 14 crore, the absence of proper development at the junction continues to cause such recurring issues.
