Kaup, July 14: What began as an ordinary Monday morning turned tragic for a 57-year-old man who collapsed and died of a heart attack while waiting at the Uchila bus stop in Kaup taluk.
The deceased, Jagadish Shetty, a native of Nooji Hosamane in Kurkalu, had left home as usual to head to work at a construction company in Manipal. He was residing with his wife in a rented house in Paniyooru.

According to sources, Jagdish reached the Uchila bus stand around his regular time and was waiting for a bus when he suddenly collapsed on the spot. Alarmed onlookers, including local residents and auto-rickshaw drivers, rushed to assist and tried to revive him.
He was immediately transported to Udupi hospital in an SDPI ambulance, but despite efforts, doctors declared him brought dead.
Jagadish is survived by his wife, Mamatha Shetty, a motivator with the Navodaya self-help groups, and their daughter. His sudden death has left his family and the local community in deep shock.
